De Meye Estate is a family-owned winery, situated in Muldersvlei on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, arguably South Africa’s most prestigious winemaking region. The Myburgh family has been farming in this area for five generations.
We aim to make great wine that people can enjoy sharing on and off the estate. The Table Restaurant offers delicious meals made from locally sourced ingredients.
Today, our family’s history and farming tradition forms an integral part of our business story, this is echoed with the Myburgh family crest serving as De Meye’s logo. Our current owner, Philip Myburgh, is upholding the family’s history, whilst assuring a dynamic and modern take on wine and its production.
The vines growing on De Meye farm have been carefully selected to suit the unique terroir of the area. The red varietals grown include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz while Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc make up our white varietals. The farm is 100ha in size and holds the winery, cellar and storage. The whole process from the vineyards to the cellar and further to sales and exports is handled inhouse and by doing this we can ensure the high quality and authenticity that distinguishes De Meye.
In 2010, we ventured into hospitality with the addition of our exquisite little restaurant, The Table at De Meye. Since then the restaurant has enjoyed great recognition amongst local and international food lovers. There is certainly more to come in the hospitality and tourism space, and we look forward to these future developments.
Owner and General Manager
Philip is the owner and general manager of De Meye. He spent his childhood on the farm, growing up between cows and vineyards. After attending college and gaining some overseas experience he decided to join his father, Jan Myburgh, on his quest to build their own winery and cellar on the farm and develop the business. Having worked on De Meye for many years now, Philip holds extensive experience in the wine industry as well as the day to day management of the business. He really is the humble soul of the house and makes sure the enterprise is run with authenticity.
